“Deep full red. Aromas of crushed stone, red berry, and chlorophyll. Big, structured and deep, with strong licorice, minerals and herb flavors. Finishes long but a little tough and gritty currently, and it’s not helped by the alcohol-derived warmth that emerges on the back. Maybe a little time in the cellar will help this develop and smoothen out, but I wonder. “Bright straw. Clean and fresh on the nose with hints of apple, pear and honey. Lively in the mouth, with plenty of lemony zip to the pomaceous orchard and stone fruit flavors but a building creaminess decreases this wine’s citrus-accent and what initially seems like a steely personality. The vibrant quality carries on the long, suddenly soft finish.
