“Dusty and floral, the 2020 Rosso Piceno Villa Bucci opens slowly in the glass. Dried violets and citrus zests complement steeped plums and wild blueberries on the nose. This sweeps across the palate with textures of pure silk, displaying crisp red fruits and inner rose tones. A collection of fine tannins forms toward the close. The 2020 finishes long and lightly structured with a savory spiciness that lingers as licorice suggestions slowly fade. This is a beautifully balanced rendition of the Villa Bucci Rosso. “Bright red. The nose offers nuances of raspberry, tobacco and violet. Then similar flavours in the mouth have lovely juiciness and lifting acidity that really provides lovely clarity and cut. The long finish is savoury and fine. A lovely, very pure Nebbiolo wine that finishes youthfully mouthcoating; best with food but this will be very enjoyable on its own too with another six to twelve months of cellaring. Made with the youngest vines of Nebbiolo (at least six years of age) of the Brunate site (that is being replanted) and from a vineyard in Neviglie, just outside the Barbaresco denomination.
