“This focused red is light- to medium-bodied and harmonious, layering bright acidity and a subtle streak of smoky mineral with pleasing notes of spiced cherry, dried thyme and citrus peel. Expressive, with a firm, lingering finish. Drink now through 2024. 440 cases made.” -A.N. Sept. 30, 2017

Pietradolce Etna Rosso Barbagalli DOC 2013 Wine Spectator 30/09/2017 93
Verbiage

“A firm, tightly knit red, showing good density to the ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit, dried fig flavors and ashy mineral details. Fresh and fragrant, with violet and spice box notes. This should open nicely with air or cellaring. Best from 2019 through 2027. 200 cases made.” -A.N. Sept. 30, 2017

Bright and mouthwatering, featuring sleek, silky tannins and a lingering, spiced finish. Drink now through 2024. 2,500 cases made.” — A.N. Sept. 30, 2017

Cantina Santadi Vermentino di Sardegna Villa Solais DOC 2015 Wine Spectator 30/09/2017 88

“Citrus and mineral notes waft from this fragrant white. Sleek acidity drives the flavors of lemon sorbet, petrol, saline, crunchy white peach and grated ginger. Light- to medium-bodied and creamy in texture, with a zesty finish. Drink now through 2020. 25,000 cases made.” — A.N. Sept. 30, 2017

Cascina Bongiovanni Barolo DOCG 2013 Wine Enthusiast 01/09/2017 92
Verbiage

“Espresso, toast, new leather, menthol and French oak aromas take center stage. The firm palate offers juicy black cherry, crushed raspberry, anise, roasted coffee bean, vanilla and sage alongside tightly knit fine-grained tannins.” – Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Sept. 2017

Hauner Malvasia delle Lipari Passito DOC 2014 Vinous 01/09/2017 93
Verbiage

“Dark bright orange-yellow. Deep aromas and flavors of orange jam, caramel, chestnut honey, and sweet spices. Multilayered and thick, with bright orange blossom, lavender, thyme, and saline nuances lingering nicely in the clean, varietally accurate finish. Much denser and sweeter (roughly 120 g/L r.s.) than Hauner’s 2014 Malvasia delle Lipari Vendemmia Tardiva, this still showcases the characteristic lightbodied, refined mouthfeel of all sweet wines made with the Malvasia di Lipari grape variety which gives delicate sweet wines quite unlike those of Sauternes, for example. Made with air-dried grapes (for close to a month) and is really quite good.” — Ian D’Agata, Vinous Sept. 2017

Hauner Malvasia delle Lipari DOC 2014 Vinous 01/09/2017 92
Verbiage

“Pale luminous golden-tinged straw. Very delicate but perfumed aromas and flavors of fresh apricot, yellow melon, caramel and a hint of orange jam derived from air-dried grapes. Bright juicy and long, with lip-smacking freshness on the long dainty back end. A very refined, flavorful wine that showcases marvelous acid-fruit balance and sneaky concentration with only 12.5% alcohol and 80 g/L r.s. This is made with partly late-harvested grapes and so is much less rich and concentrated than the Passito, made with air-dried grapes: perfect for all those who enjoy lighter-styled, not so massively thick sweet wines. A lovely wine.” — Ian D’Agata, Vinous Sept. 2017
