A slightly austere red, with a core of pure cherry buried within a dense texture and a tannic structure. Though tightly wound, this shows concentrated fruit, along with iron, tobacco, tar and eucalyptus flavors. Best from 2027 through 2049.

Shows serious grip, courtesy of dense, assertive tannins, with cherry, grass, iron and tobacco notes holding court, while vivid acidity keeps everything focused. The fruit returns on the austere finish. Best from 2027 through 2045

Bright and well- delineated, exuding cherry, strawberry, rose and earth flavors. Turns firm and tightly wound from mid-palate through the finish, showing the austerity of the vintage. There’s plenty here, but this just needs time. Best from 2026 through 2045.

Sleek and firmly built, this red offers cherry, plum, earth and eucalyptus flavors. Ripe and balanced, ending with hints of licorice and tobacco. Compact finish for now, with vivid acidity. Best from 2026 through 2043.

Made with grapes from the estate’s Brunate and La Serra crus, this opens with lovely scents recalling blue flower and baked plum. Smooth and delicious, the palate offers ripe red cherry, crushed raspberry and baking spice alongside polished tannins. Drink through 2034. – Kerin O’Keefe, March 2023

A pleasant Amarone with aromas and flavors of prunes and vanilla custard. Notes of coffee and chocolate, too. Full-bodied, but with a less weighty feel than some. The lightly chewy tannins break up the flow a little, suggesting that this still needs a bit of time to even out. Try from 2025.

Not much on the nose other than a note of oak, but the red fruit emerges immediately on the palate, blending in with the obvious oak-influenced flavors and tannins to give a rather structured effect, producing a long, tight and spicy finish. Needs time to even out. Best from 2025.

There’s a touch of refinement to this medium-bodied PG, which offers the usual citrus, apple and mineral notes, but on a sleeker, more controlled framework with no jagged edges. Bright finish. Drink now. Screw cap.

The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino shows a slightly darker hue in this sunny vintage and more fruit richness. The bouquet offers ripe cherry, dark currant and soft earth sensations of flower root or potting soil. Andrea Costanti makes a very nice Rosso. The wine drinks with ease and simplicity, showing soft tannins, balanced freshness and bright fruit. Drinking window: 2023 – 2027
