Verbiage“This vineyard was planted in 1978, a 1.2-acre south-facing hillside of silty marl mixed with calcareous clay. The wine aged first in French oak barriques then in larger format oak, the wood influence apparent in a dark walnut skin toughness of the tannins. As powerful as those tannins are, the fruit comes up through them, luscious in its anise and truffle richness. Compressed for now, this is a savory Barbaresco to cellar for ten years or more.” -Wine & Spirits, Dec. 2014 |

Verbiage“There’s a brisk, floral Barolo hidden behind this wine’s massive tannins. There’s plenty of ripe fruit compressed within those tannins, though it’s inaccessible for now, blocked off by a Nebbiolo grape-skin character as hard and bitter as an anise stalk. This is built to cellar over the long term.” -Wine & Spirits, Dec. 2014 |

Verbiage“From a south-facing hillside where the vines are 43 years old, this wine is saturated with ripe fruit and equally ripe with smoldering tannins. The rich black fruit rides along in parallel with the tannins, feeling polished in its intensity (a small portion of the blend was aged in barriques). Built to last.” -Wine & Spirits, Dec. 2014 |
