“This vineyard was planted in 1978, a 1.2-acre south-facing hillside of silty marl mixed with calcareous clay. The wine aged first in French oak barriques then in larger format oak, the wood influence apparent in a dark walnut skin toughness of the tannins. As powerful as those tannins are, the fruit comes up through them, luscious in its anise and truffle richness.
