Conti Costanti Rosso di Montalcino DOC 2021 Vinous 01/11/2023 92
Verbiage

“Vibrant black cherry, raspberry preserves, cedar shavings and dusty earth form a wildly attractive bouquet as the 2021 Rosso di Montalcino opens in the glass. This is like pure velvet on the palate, yet spicy and intense, with a stern core of minerality and zesty acidity that adds a sense of boundless energy. This turns savory, nearly salty, finishing with a staining of licorice and spice as gently grippy tannins resonate. This is fantastic and built for medium-term cellaring.” – Eric Guadio, Vinous

Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016 Vinous 01/11/2023 97
Verbiage

“Cedar and mint hints complement depths of musky red currant and dried cherries as the darkly alluring 2016 Brunello di Montalcino smolders up from the glass. This is a model of purity, with textures of pure silk. It’s vibrant, verging on nervous acidity, mixing ripe strawberry with a tart cranberry crunch as orange traces add further depth toward the close. Still structured yet not aggressively so, the 2016 finishes long and staining. A gentle tug of fine tannins adds youthful poise as the cheeks pucker for another sip. This is already showing beautifully, yet patience is recommended. ” – Eric Guido, Vinous

An excellent example of the elegance of La Morra, the palate is lifted with superfine tannins that support the supple red fruit notes, mixed spices and mineral-driven finish. Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 Kerin O'Keefe 31/10/2023 97
Verbiage

“Showing the intensity and concentration of the vintage but also the finesse that’s the hallmark of this storied estate, the 2019 Fuligni is a stunner. It opens with aromas of camphor, violet, dog rose and spice while the full-bodied, enveloping palate delivers succulent black cherry, crushed raspberry, dried mint and licorice alongside velvety tannins. Boasting a weightless elegance, it closes on a note of almond liqueur. Drink 2029–2039. Abv: 15%” – Kerin O’Keefe, Oct. 2023, ©kerinokeefe.com

Jankara Vermentino di Gallura DOCG 2022 Vinous 31/10/2023
Verbiage

The 2022 Vermentino di Gallura Superiore is wickedly fresh, opening with a burst of white smoke and stone dust invigorated by candied citrus and mint. It’s silky and supple, nearly oily in feel, with zesty acidity to balance and crisp orchard fruits that cascade throughout. This leaves a tinge of sour lime while finishing long yet remarkably fresh, with a green apple crunch punctuating the experience. Nicely done.  – Eric Guido, Vinous

Jankara 755 mt Isola dei Nuraghi IGT 2019 Vinous 31/10/2023 91
Verbiage

White pepper and savory herbs give way to crushed plums, cloves and underbrush as the 2019 Isola dei Nuraghi 755mt smolders up from the glass. It washes across the palate with textures of pure silk, displaying mineral-tinged wild berries and exotic spices, all guided by zesty acidity. A staining of grippy tannins lingers as this tapers off with a balsamic character and is structured for the cellar. There is a lot of power here, yet balance as well, as the 2019 does an excellent job of hiding its 16% abv. The 755mt is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Alicante, Cannonau, Carignano and Sangiovese. – Eric Guido, Vinous
