Empson & Co. is proud to announce the addition of Torraccia del Piantavigna to its portfolio, effective immediately. The global exporter will represent five of their wines including the winery’s award-winning Gattinara DOCG and Ghemme DOCG as well as “Erbavoglio” Colline Novaresi Bianco DOC, “Barlàn” Colline Novaresi Rosé DOC  and “Neb” Colline Novaresi DOC.

Torraccia del Piantavigna is located in the foothills of Monte Rosa in Alto Piemonte. As a well-established wine zone, it features unique characteristics – volcanic soil unusually rich in minerals, excellent day/night temperature swings and a continental climate – that lead to elegant, fresh wines with complex aromas and outstanding aging potential.

The winery is family owned – founded in 1997 by Alessandro Francoli – and all of the wines are made, bottled and aged at the estate in Ghemme, in the province of Novara. All 40 hectares (100 acres) are hand-tended and sustainably farmed and in fact, the winery has won at least three eco-friendly awards. But those aren’t the only awards they’ve received. Their Ghemme DOCG has received Gambero Rosso’s coveted “Tre Bicchieri” eleven years in a row and their Gattinara DOCG won for the last three.
