Verbiage“Speri’s gorgeous 2010 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Vigneto Monte Sant’Urbano is what many red wines of Valpolicella aspire to be. The balance here is close to impeccable and given the unpredictable nature of appassimento (air-drying of fruit) this is no small feat. Amarone Classico Sant’Urbano shows outstanding depth and character, with beautifully preserved aromas of red fruit, prune, spice, licorice and grilled herb. I’d suggest opening this bottle three to five years from now. I was greatly impressed with the new releases from Speri this year. The wines from the Sant’ Urbano vineyard proved exceptional. Some of the best wines of the Valpolicella today are coming out of this site.” – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb. 2015 |

Verbiage“The 2012 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso is one of best Ripasso expressions of the vintage. This is an outstanding effort with a deep and unyielding sense of juiciness and freshness that you don’t often see in Ripasso. Plum and fresh prune segue slowly to raisin and dried currant. Spice, leather and tobacco round off the finish. The tannins are also more defined and structured than you usually see in Ripasso. I was greatly impressed with the new releases from Speri this year. The wines from the Sant’ Urbano vineyard proved exceptional. Some of the best wines of the Valpolicella today are coming out of this site.” – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, May 2015 |

Fresh fruit layers of wild berrry, cassis, dried blueberry and toasted almond rise from the glass. The wine scores very high in terms of general drinkability. I was greatly impressed with the new releases from Speri this year. The wines from the Sant’ Urbano vineyard proved exceptional. Some of the best wines of the Valpolicella today are coming out of this site.” – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb. 2015 |

Verbiage“Forest floor, ripe black fruit, truffle, leather and balsamic aromas open this bold, concentrated wine. The delicious palate offers layers of blackberry, spicy plum, black pepper, cassis and savory herb alongside big, velvety tannins. It has balance and depth but it’s still young and needs time to develop complexity. Drink 2018–2030.” – Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Feb. 2015 |
