Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2010 Wine & Spirits 01/12/2017 96
Verbiage

“Andrea Costanti selected his best barrels of Brunello to craft a 2010 Riserva that’s exciting in its nervy intensity. Scents of lavender and violet lead into flavors of black cherry, plum and sweet spice that wash across the palate in waves, energized by brisk acidity. The flavors feel seamless, woven together by cool tannins, polished by 18 months in tonneaux and an equal amount of time in large Slavonian botti. Elegant and complex now, it has the freshness and structure to improve for many years to come.” – Wine & Spirits, Dec. 1, 2017

2013 Wine & Spirits 01/12/2017 93
Verbiage

“Notes of dark spice and damp leaves surround this wine’s woodland berry and cherry flavors. Its fruit density is a product of 47-year-old vines, the spice notes picked up during a year in barriques followed by two more in large Slavonian oak casks. The tight tannins begin to recede after a few hours in the glass, the fruit surging up with a taut, vibrant feel.” – Wine & Spirits, Dec. 1, 2017

Poderi Einaudi Barolo Cannubi DOCG 2013 Wine & Spirits 01/12/2017 93
Verbiage

“This house has eased back on the use of barriques for its Barolo since 2010, and the change really shows in this 2013 Cannubi. Half of the wine aged in barriques (30 percent new) for 18 months, then joined the rest of the wine in large oak casks for another year. The result feels vibrant and fresh, with lovely floral scents and dark cherry fruit shot through with notes of menthol, bay leaf and orange zest. Hints of spice and cedar accent the flavors, but it’s those energetic red-fruit flavors that linger, riding on firm, mineral tannins.” – Wine & Spirits, Dec. 1, 2017

Poderi Einaudi Barolo Cannubi DOCG 2013 Wine Enthusiast 01/12/2017 92
Verbiage

Toast, moist underbrush, grilled herb and balsamic aromas lead the nose. On the full-bodied austere palate, fine-grained tannins support tart cherry, cranberry, vanilla and star anise. Give this several more years to unwind and develop. Drink 2013–2033.” – Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 2017

Poderi Einaudi Barolo “Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi” DOCG 2013 Wine & Spirits 01/12/2017 93
Verbiage

“From a south-facing plot of 40-year-old vines, this wine is dense and concentrated. Firm, mineral tannins and dark, tarry notes check the fruit flavors initially, relenting over several hours as the wine brightens into notes of orange zest and mint. Those bright fruit tones will be more expressive after a few more years in the cellar.” – Wine & Spirits, Dec. 1, 2017

“This is elegant, boasting cherry, floral, tobacco and iron flavors. The tannins lean to the dry side, but this retains an elegant feel through the chalky finish. Just needs time. Best from 2021 through 2035.” -B.S., Wine Spectator Nov. 30, 2017

Marcarini Barolo La Serra DOCG 2013 Wine Spectator 30/11/2017 92
