Cantina Santadi Terre Brune Carignano del Sulcis Superiore DOC 2020 Kerin O'Keefe 25/11/2024 93
Verbiage

One of the great reds of Sardinia, the 2020 Terrebrune is a fantastic wine, with energy, structure and finesse. It opens with heady aromas of Mediterranean brush, violet, coffee bean, dark exotic spice and ripe black-skinned fruit. Elegantly structured, the full-bodied palate delivers succulent blackberry, mature Morello cherry, mocha and licorice before closing on saline mineral notes and spiced orange zest. Firm, close-grained tannins provide support. Give it time to fully unwind. Drink 2029–2035.” Abv: 15% Kerin O’Keefe November 2024 ©kerinokeefe.com

“Delivering structure and finesse, the lovely 2021 Noras opens with heady aromas recalling eucalyptus, juniper, ripe berry and a whiff of the sea. It’s linear and elegant, featuring flavors of ripe Marasca cherry, wild raspberry, star anise and white pepper accompanied by taut, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Drink 2025–2031.” Abv: 14.5% Kerin O’Keefe November 2024 ©kerinokeefe.com

Fuligni Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto DOC 2022 Wine Advocate 25/11/2024 90
Verbiage

“I visited Fuligni years ago during early spring, and I remember the bright pink blossoms on the cherry trees just outside still-dormant vineyards. That mental picture comes to mind when I consider the 2022 Rosso di Montalcino Ginestreto. The wine has floral highlights, citrusy fruit and a botanical side with bramble and lavender sachet. Those aromas are rounded off by earthy sensations and a mineral pinch of pink Himalayan salt.” – Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Nov. 2024

Bucci Verdicchio Classico dei Castelli di Jesi DOC 2023 James Suckling 19/11/2024 91
Verbiage

“A very almondy wine with a lot of leesy character and Mirabelle-plum fruit definition. On the palate, it shows weight and silkiness with crisp acidity and a quite extracted, almost tannic and austere finish. Drink or hold.”

Cantina Santadi Rocca Rubia Carignano del Sulcis Riserva DOC 2021 James Suckling 18/11/2024 92
Verbiage

“A focused, balanced and well-driven red with aromas of sweet cherries, pralines, dried leaves and warm spices. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. It’s well balanced with a dense core of berries and chocolate wafers on the palate and a precise, flavorful finish with excellent length. Drink or hold.”

Shardana Shardana 2020 James Suckling 14/11/2024 91
Verbiage

“Solid, structured and well made, with aromas of dark plums, dark chocolate, bark and sweet spices, following through to a full body with plush tannins. Plenty of texture and drive, with a long, flavorful, focused finish. Drink or hold.” -James Suckling, Nov. 2024

Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2019 Decanter 12/11/2024 98
Verbiage

“Produced only in vintages with ideal ripeness and substantial acid backbone to guarantee longevity, Fuligni’s Riserva aspires to express the characteristics of a vintage to their fullest. With simmering fragrance, regal structure and inner brightness to illuminate the wine’s profound depths, the 2019 edition definitely succeeds. Intense cherry, orange zest, heady truffle and forest roots take hold on the nose. The fruit is pristine and even sleek and curvaceous but the tannins have a countering bite. Tangy pomegranate rings out from the core of this elegantly weighted gem; everything is neatly in place and unfolding at a tastefully measured gait.” -Michaela Morris, Decanter, Nov. 2024

Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2020 Decanter 12/11/2024 97
Verbiage

“When I tried Costanti’s 2020 Rosso in 2022, Andrea described the vintage as better suited for Brunello given the high dry extract and sturdy structure. Indeed, his 2020 Brunello is one of the vintage’s anomalies. It possesses rare profundity and decisiveness of tannins. The nose invites with plum blossom, dark currants, mint and an earthy undertow. Upfront tannins are substantial, grainy and crisp, and the sour cherry and cranberry core soars from the depths bringing bitter cocoa, coffee and alpine herbs along for the ride. Juicy acidity rings out and a distinct saltiness permeates the finish. Nevertheless, it is that unwavering backbone that currently commands, promising a long life ahead.” -Michaela Morris, Decanter, Nov. 2024

Conti Costanti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2019 Decanter 12/11/2024 97
Verbiage

“A first whiff evokes autumn woodlands – moist earth, fragrant undergrowth and toasted chestnut. It progresses confidently with flair. Ripe cherry and redcurrant burst from the core with background notes of cocoa dusted herbs. Layers of refined tannins are intricately and tightly knit, while bracing acidity imparts levity. The finish reverberates with a distinct mineral sensation. I am not sure this will outlive the estate’s stunning 2016 (the last Riserva release), however it will be a true pleasure to assess the two side by side during their long-distance journey.” -Michaela Morris, Decanter, Nov. 2024

Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG 2020 Decanter 12/11/2024 95
Verbiage

“Fuligni is among those properties which deem 2020 an ideal vintage for a long-lived Riserva. I can’t wait to try it next year. In the meantime, it will be impossible to resist this annata bottling. Harvest started on 20 September, straddling the rainfall which came late in the month. Seductive and sensual, this beauty exudes pressed dark flowers and all-encompassing Asian five-spice. Chestnut and bitter roots inject a countering element to the sweet, glossy fruit that expands across the palate. Long, chalky tannins wrap around the red cherry core, building with density, and steely acidity cleanses the mouth.” -Michaela Morris, Decanter, Nov. 2024
