Bucci “Villa Bucci Riserva” Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva DOCG Classico 2019 Vinous 02/05/2024 94
Verbiage

“The 2019 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Riserva Villa Bucci Vintage Collection entices with a seductive blend of dried apricots, peaches, almond custard and sweet spice. This is silky smooth with a balancing core of stimulating acidity. Orchard fruits add further contrast toward the end. It finishes long, structured and full of tension while leaving a resonance of lemon pith and minty herbs to linger on. The 2019 is profoundly complex and balanced for a long and steady evolution. Bravo. ” – Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2024

Lodali Barbaresco DOCG Rocche dei 7 Fratelli 2021 James Suckling 02/05/2024 92
Verbiage

“Bark, cherry stones, tar and coffee beans on the nose, but despite these dark and brooding aromas, it’s elegant and refined on the full-bodied palate, with fine-grained tannins that melt into the wine. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling, May 2024

Bucci “Villa Bucci Riserva” Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva DOCG Classico 2020 Wine Enthusiast 02/05/2024 96
Verbiage

“This Verdicchio exudes a subtle yet intriguing nose with a sea-salt note, crushed stone and hints of lemon oil. Needing time to develop the wine shows aromas of white peach, pear and lily as it opens. The mouthwatering acidity, coupled with its lean and mineral character, captivates the palate and urges you to put it in the cellar for a few more years. Drink 2025–2048.” — Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast, May 2024

“This benchmark example of Verdicchio year in and year out shows the greatness of Verdicchio. The wine opens with aromas of roasted stone and orchard fruits that intertwine with salted lemon and a mineral tinge, creating a complex and elegant palate. The wine’s well-trimmed, mouthfilling texture adds depth to its sophisticated and multifaceted character that will continue to develop over time. Drink now–2045.” — Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast, May 2024

Pietradolce Archineri Etna Rosso DOC 2020 Wine Enthusiast 02/05/2024 93
Verbiage

“A floral, herbaceous nose features notes of sage, oregano, tomato, roses and peonies. On the palate, a dash of balsamic and a sprinkle of pepper add further nuance to the waltz of savory and floral. Tannins emphasize the earthiness, while the acid introduces a fruit element that is both sweet and tart.” — Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast, May 2024

Pietradolce Archineri Etna Rosso DOC 2021 James Suckling 01/05/2024 93
Verbiage

Bright ruby-garnet, with earthy strawberries, dried flowers and cinnamon. It has pinot-like elegance, depth and complexity. A soulful palate with velvety tannins that are a bit chalky on the finish, crisp, long, integrated acidity and an amazing finish. Medium- to full-bodied with cherry pit flavors. More elegant than powerful. Drink or hold.

Pietradolce Etna Rosso Barbagalli DOC 2020 James Suckling 01/05/2024 97
Verbiage

Beautiful nose of dried cherries and raspberries, with hints of sandalwood, sweet spices and crushed stones. It’s intense and persistent on the palate, with a medium to full body and a lot of depth and structure. Yet the tannins are very fine and well integrated into the wine, with a seamless, velvety texture. It grows on the finish, with both generous fruit and ashy minerality. There’s something mysterious about this. Better after 2026.

Pietradolce Feudo di Mezzo Etna Rosso DOC 2021 James Suckling 01/05/2024 94
Verbiage

Ruby garnet in the glass, with cherry jelly, ripe fruit character and intense notes of graphite and smoke. The attack is soft and velvety, with ripe tannins, crisp acidity and a medium body. It has a solid spine of structure with enough fruit concentration for aging, but good to drink now.

“The nose is floral and earthy, with a hint of tart berries that swells on the palate but doesn’t entirely overwhelm an enduring, potent earthiness. Acid shines through a dense forest of taut tannins, like sunlight through birch trees.” — Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast, May 2024

Franz Haas Pinot Bianco Lepus DOC Wine Enthusiast 01/05/2024 91

“This fun and vibrant white weaves a tapestry of aromas and flavors that immediately capture one’s attention. Pineapple, roasted citrus, gardenia and crushed stone shine from nose to palate with a pleasant bitterness on the extended finish.” — Jeff Porter, Wine Enthusiast, May 2024
