“Unlike many more powerful, impactful wines in Montalcino, Fuligni’s unfurl with discretion and patience. This is a wonderful entry into the thoroughbred house style. Smooth, suave black cherry and strawberry fruit is framed by freshness and soft but structuring tannins. Ample and ripe, but still with a real sense of poise. The vineyard is named after the ginestra (broom) that grows on this single hectare of 10- to 15-year-old vines. It’s intense and persistent on the palate, with a medium to full body and a lot of depth and structure. Yet the tannins are very fine and well integrated into the wine, with a seamless, velvety texture. It grows on the finish, with both generous fruit and ashy minerality.
